How do we view these days that are set aside for us to reflect upon??

When our soldiers returned from Vietnam ...many did not receive a friendly welcome.

Some of the soldiers were even spit on.

As you remember, there was a draft back then. Many of them had little choice ...they had to serve.

And if they served, it meant that others did not have to serve ...only those whose draft number came up. There should have been many grateful that their number did not come up.

And I believe there should be many more whom rightly should be thankful that we do not presently have a draft.  The volunteers are enough in number that we do not have to serve if we don't want to.

It provides for us a choice.

But, what do many choose to do??

They condemn those who serve.

Our military servers volunteer to help protect our country ...and our world.

Our soldiers and service men and women do not decide how that's done, where they go, nor what they do ...it's not their choice.

It is only their choice to commit themselves to serve our country in the best way they know how, with the best of their abilities.

And I thoroughly celebrate their courage and commitment.
